2010 Super Bowl XLIV Parties

by admin on January 25, 2010

The top at-home party event of the year: Super Bowl Party

These American parties are not just a  gathering of football fans. Some people attending these parties don’t care what happens in the “Big Game”.  They do, however, love the excuse to get together with friends at the end of the very cold month of January. The Super Bowl has become a sort of announcement of the coming spring.

Here are tips for making a super party:

Best option: a buffet. Football Fans are not interested in a sit down dinner.  They’d rather be jumping up and down Cruise Style, and letting off steam screaming at the television.

  1. Set up a room with one large TV, use extra TV’s you have for kitchen, patio, or other areas you want the party to flow.
  2. Have one room set aside without a television for guests who aren’t fanatical about the game and would like a  place to talk. (This also keeps the football fanatics happy, so that they won’t miss the TV commentaries.)
  3. Keep it simple.  Keep it low carb with recipes in the Super Bowl Low Carb section.
  4. Plan on plenty of beverages, and don’t forget the low calorie beer.
  5. Decorate, think team colors, footballs, team jerseys, goal posts, and pennants. You don’t need to go crazy, the clear reception on your television is most important for this party.
  6. Keep lots of rags, paper towels, napkins and rug cleaner handy for messes created during emotional plays.
  7. Betting pools  just might pop up during the game, so keep some small bills handy.

Traditional party food for the Super Bowl

Most Traditional Super Bowl Party food is carb and fat heavy such as chips, sour cream (such as the generations favorite-onion soup dip), chili, salsa, Buffalo wings, cheese balls, and of course pizza and beer.  This is one of those events where Americans feel less guilty about eating their favorite foods.

Super Bowl Party with Delicious Low Carb Snacks

You don’t have to break the big-butt-bank to have a good time and enjoy good, filing, satisfying snacks during the Big Game party.  Think proteins to keep the carbohydrate count low.  Instead of chili, how about a spicy bowl of Moroccan chicken soup.  It is hardy, tasty, can be made with  any type of meat you desire.  Or you can make it vegetarian. Or you could make Miami Meatballs, Goal Post Claim Chowder, or try some of the other Low Carb Recipes.
